Go-Go music, born in Washington, D.C., is a culturally rich and rhythmic genre that deserves official recognition in digital music libraries. Created by Chuck Brown in the 1960s–70s, Go-Go blends funk, R&B, and early hip-hop with live call-and-response energy, forming a sound all its own. Yet, streaming platforms still lump it under broader categories like "funk" or "R&B," which erases its unique identity. Recognizing Go-Go as a distinct genre would preserve its heritage, elevate its artists, and connect new generations to its vibrant legacy. It’s time for platforms like Spotify and Apple Music to honor Go-Go’s place in music history—sign the petition and help make it happen.
